Responsibilities Hospital-based Med/Surg Observation unit with 23 beds Primary patient population includes cardiac (chest pain, post cath), neuro (CVA/TIA), post-surgical, GI/urology, AKI, cellulitis, and detox cases Day shift schedule: 12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM Weekend block option is available Patient ratios: 1:4-5 from 07:00-15:00, 1:5-6 from 15:00-19:00, and 1:6-7 at night Epic charting system is used; recent experience is required First to float within skillset to other units or Deaconess Newburgh (IN) and potentially Henderson (KY) campuses with two-hour notice Every other holiday and three weekends required in each six-week schedule No on-call or call-back requirements May be required to precept students and new hires as part of a teaching hospital environment Unit leadership is longstanding and the team culture is described as welcoming with high traveler satisfaction Navy blue scrubs are required; no hoodies, sweatshirts, or clothing with competing health system or agency logos COVID-19 vaccination is not currently required, but this is subject to change More than three call-ins during the contract may lead to termination First time travelers are not eligible for this position Requirements Active IN or compact RN license required at time of consideration AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications required Minimum two years of strong Med/Surg experience and one completed travel assignment required Recent Epic charting experience is required and candidates must complete a checkoff class Must be able to perform cardiac cath recovery, post-surgical care, neuro assessment, initiate and titrate drips (Heparin, Insulin), drain management, foley/straight cath care, NG tube insertion, and blood administration Strong assessment and critical thinking skills required Radius rule in effect: candidates must live more than 40 miles from the facility Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625704.
