Mechanical Engineer

12-Month Contract – Power & Propulsion Engineer (Marine/Defence) | £50/hr | Remote Glasgow (Hybrid) We’re working with a leading defence organisation on a next-generation naval program and are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in Power & Propulsion (P&P) systems. This is a fantastic 12-month contract opportunity to contribute to the mechanical design, integration, and development of critical propulsion systems on a high-profile marine platform. Key Responsibilities: Provide mechanical design input across propulsion systems including: Propulsion Motors , Diesel Generators , Gas Turbines Propulsion Gearboxes , Shaftlines , Steering Gear , and Stabilisers Review and assess vendor documentation for propulsion motor procurement Support integration and design change activities from baseline ship design Contribute to technical documentation , compliance reports , and system maturity assessments Collaborate with compartment owners to support the Zonal Maturity programme Investigate engineering issues, recommend solutions, and support system improvements Contract Details: Duration : 12 months (high likelihood of extension and rate increase, overtime available) Rate : £50 per hour Location : Primarily remote , with hybrid on-site in Glasgow (60% home working)
