Job Description
Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: MRI Technologist Specialty: - Duration: 9 months Shift: 8AM - 4PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 2 years preferred License: NY State License in Diagnostic Radiology Certifications: A.R.R.T. MRI registry, BCLS Certified Must-Have: Strong background in cross-sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and MRI physics. Description: This position operates and prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures. Applies the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patients' needs. Performs MRI imaging procedures. Positions patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study. Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures by informing the patient of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged, and any specific instructions the patient may need. Reviews all patient safety questionnaires prior to introducing any patients into the MRI scan room. Ensures all MRI images are appropriately labeled as specified by the department SOP. Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures images are transmitted to PACS in a timely fashion. Ensures that all studies performed are completed in the Radiology Information System in a timely fashion. Ensures Radiology room and equipment cleanliness at the start and end of the shift, including removal of soiled or dirty linen. Scans patient-related documents. Maintains supplies and accessories in the radiographic room necessary to safely perform duties, as required. Accurately records all required patient tracking information into the Radiology Information System. Schedules exams into the Radiology Information System as required. Informs supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions. Assists physician directly as required. Calls for inpatients as required. Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel. Maintains safety standards via strict adherence to safety guidelines to prevent the introduction of ferromagnetic material into the scan room. Protects self, patients, and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols. Attends in-services and other professional development meetings as required. Maintains licensure specific to job in good standing, including adherence to relevant Health Codes. Performs other relevant duties as assigned. Schedule notes: 8AM - 4PM, 2-3 days a week, possible weekend coverage. Looking for an MRI technologist with experience on GE equipment. Flexible for covering technologists on vacation. Discussion of specific hours will occur during the interview.
