Job Description

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer, and one in three people born in the UK today will develop the disease in their lifetime. Dementia is the biggest health and social care challenge of our time. Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity, and the only one to tackle all aspects of dementia by giving help and hope to people living with dementia today and in the future. It is currently seeking a new trustee to join its Board, who will play a vital role in leading the organisation in the years to come. As a Trustee of Alzheimer's Society, you will have a profound opportunity to make an impact on the lives of people affected by dementia. These roles are about more than just ‘giving back’. This is about actively shaping the future and driving positive change. Alzheimer's Society is the only dementia charity in the UK to give vital support to people who need it, while also funding groundbreaking research and campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be. Alzheimer's Society has ambitious goals to create a world where dementia no longer devastates lives, and this vision is bolstered by a strong financial position, a highly capable executive team, and amazingly engaged supporters. This is a pivotal time for Alzheimer’s Society. There is consequently a real chance to drive unparalleled change in the years ahead, and the Society is determined to seize this moment. With every discovery, every learning and every step forward comes the desire to do more – and the belief we can achieve more. We are committed to being an anti-racist organisation. As an organisation we look to our leaders to demonstrate their commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and influence our journey. On this occasion, we are particularly seeking a Trustee with experience in health and social care, who understand the environment in which we operate and can provide our board and executive with support on this topic, bearing in mind the wider policy landscape in relation to dementia. In addition to the core expertise above, the ideal candidate will possess a compelling personal track record of strategic leadership combined with an understanding of how organisations should be managed and governed in order to deliver their strategic goals. Crucially, they will offer a clear and demonstrable personal interest in leading the way to beat dementia. Location: Remote with monthly board meetings all over the UK, predominantly in London. To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter, detailing how you fulfil the role description and personal specification to https://plusportal.perrettlaver.com/ quoting reference 7752.
