Senior Estimator

I am recruiting for a Senior Estimator to play a pivotal role in delivering Sizewell C, a landmark 3.2 gigawatt nuclear power station set to provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes over the next 60 years. As part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), you will be immersed in a collaborative environment alongside industry leaders Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics, and Laing O’Rourke, united in delivering one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. What you’ll do: • Work closely with the Lead Estimator and Head of Estimating to maintain consistent, robust estimating standards set by the client • Produce comprehensive estimating documentation, assured for both internal and external stakeholders • Develop estimates from first principles for critical work packages on the Sizewell C project • Mentor and support junior team members, sharing your expertise and driving their development • Engage with stakeholders across planning, procurement, and delivery, ensuring alignment in estimate production • Present, negotiate, and justify pricing openly and transparently to senior leaders and partners • Review drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costings for materials, labour, and equipment • Evaluate design options and value solutions, identifying the financial attractiveness of the project • Record assumptions, highlight risks and opportunities, and contribute to risk evaluation from a budgetary perspective • Collaborate with the project team and supply chain to refine methodologies and principles What you’ll bring: • Strong proficiency in Excel and similar software, with excellent communication skills • Experience with estimating software such as Candy and RIB Cost X highly desirable • Proven background working with infrastructure main contractors, ideally within civil engineering • Commercial or operational experience will be considered • Chartership with ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB (desirable) • Flexible and mobile mindset • An open, respectful approach, valuing input from colleagues of all backgrounds and experiences What sets you apart: • A track record of mentoring and empowering others, sharing responsibility and operating as ‘one team’ • Commitment to clarity, consistency, and collaborative decision making • Determination to challenge poor quality and bring fresh ideas that deliver lasting value Be part of a project that will touch millions of lives and transform the UK’s energy landscape for generations.
