About the Treasure Trove Officer role: As Treasure Trove Officer, you are responsible for the day-to-day tasks and processes of the treasure trove system. As a Treasure Trove Officer at National Museums Scotland you will: * Day-to-day delivery of the casework of the Treasure Trove Unit (TTU), liaising with the King’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer (KLTR) staff. * Support the work of the Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel (SAFAP). * Implementing the processes relating to finds of archaeological material in Scotland with respect to the Treasure Trove system. * Support the TTU outreach programme including finds days and liaison with the sector (including finders, commercial archaeology, universities and metal detecting community). Skills and experience we’re looking for in our Treasure Trove Officer: * Knowledge of principles and practice of UK ‘treasure’ systems, including Treasure Trove in Scotland. * Knowledge of, an interest in, or enthusiasm about artefacts reported to TTU * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Practical experience of identifying and working with finds recovered through archaeological and other activities.
