Interim Legal Counsel (Commercial) – 10-Month FTC Location: London (Hybrid) Start date: Early 2026 The Opportunity An established retail business is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its in-house legal team on a maternity cover basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong commercial lawyer to step into a broad, hands-on role within a supportive and collaborative environment. The Team The successful candidate will form part of a well-structured legal function. The wider legal team includes several commercial lawyers, fostering a non-hierarchical working culture. Key Responsibilities Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements. Advising on procurement, outsourcing, IP, and finance/portfolio-related matters. Supporting on commercial negotiations connected to the sale and distribution of products. Providing pragmatic, business-focused legal advice to a range of internal stakeholders. Contributing to continuous improvement of templates, precedents, and internal processes. About You Qualified solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent) gained in-house or in private practice. Strong grounding in commercial law and contract negotiation. Comfortable working autonomously and juggling a diverse workload. Collaborative, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented approach. Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with non-legal teams.
