Lecturer / Senior Lecturer or Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (Teaching) in Computer Science Sub Department Department of Computing Location City Campus Salary £38,249 to £55,755 per annum Post Type Full Time Contract Type Permanent Closing Date Sunday 23 November 2025 Interview Date Friday 19 December 2025 Reference SB2511 The Department of Computing is based within the rapidly expanding Worcester Business School at the University of Worcester City Campus. Over the past year, the School has experienced growing numbers of students joining our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. As a result, we are seeking to complement our team with an experienced Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Computer Science. Worcester is a beautiful cathedral city, located around 40 minutes south of Birmingham, the UKs second city. The Department of Computing undertakes research across a range of themes, including Machine Learning, Data Science, Intelligent Interactive Systems, Computing in Education, and Cyber Security. It is also home to the Digital Innovation and Intelligent Systems Research Group. Depending on qualifications and experience, this role may be offered as either a Standard Academic Contract (SAC), which includes both teaching and research responsibilities, or a Teaching Only Contract (TOC). For SAC appointments, candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant Computer Science field or be within 12 months of completing one. For TOC appointments, candidates should hold a Masters degree in a relevant subject or have significant knowledge and teaching experience at degree level, and/or be a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA/Advance HE). In addition, candidates are expected to have contemporary subject knowledge and/or experience of professional practice in several of the following areas: - Computer Science - Mathematics for Computing - Data Structures and Algorithms - Operating Systems - Distributed Systems - Object Oriented Programming - Robotics - Internet of Things - Machine Learning - Artificial Intelligence - Natural Language Processing We would especially welcome applicants who have experience with physical computing (the design and realisation of interactive objects and installations); Robotics, single board computers, such as Raspberry Pi, the Arduino platform, utilising sensors and microcontrollers, as well as computer hardware and electronics for Computer Science. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of existing and new module and course offerings in our undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio, alongside contributing to the research and/or knowledge exchange activities within the Department of Computing.
