About the Role As Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will take a key role in shaping the technical design, integration, and delivery of high-voltage BESS assets. Working within a collaborative engineering team, you will ensure that designs are compliant, constructible, and optimised for performance and reliability. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically driven engineer who thrives on complex electrical challenges and wants to play a hands-on role in the energy transition. Key Responsibilities Lead the electrical design and review of BESS projects from feasibility through to construction and commissioning. Develop single line diagrams, protection and control schemes, and equipment specifications for HV and LV systems. Coordinate grid-connection designs with DNOs/TSOs and ensure compliance with national and European grid codes. Support RFP and procurement processes, contributing technical specifications for major electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, inverters, etc.). Interface with civil, controls, and EPC teams to ensure fully integrated and compliant designs. Review contractor and supplier submissions, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to standards. Provide engineering support during construction, testing, and energisation stages. Contribute to continuous improvement of internal design standards, templates, and processes. Occasional travel to project sites and partner offices across Europe. About You Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Proven experience in high-voltage electrical design within renewable energy, substations, or BESS projects. Strong understanding of protection, earthing, and control systems, and relevant UK/EU standards. Comfortable working with grid-connection studies, G99 compliance, and power system interfaces. Skilled in using design and documentation tools (AutoCAD, CAD for review, or similar). Effective communicator, capable of working across engineering, construction, and external stakeholders. Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
