Location: Backwell, Bristol Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Hours: 40 hours per week Salary: £71,330 – £78,702 (L14 – L18) Start Date: February 2025 Closing Date: 11th November 2025 We are currently seeking for an exceptional Head of School to help lead, shape, and develop a transformative new Specialist provision in Backwell. This is a rare opportunity to make your mark from the very beginning and be part of a forward-thinking organisation dedicated to delivering life-changing education. The school will provide a nurturing, inclusive, and aspirational environment for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With capacity for up to 96 students, it will offer a space where every learner can thrive and achieve their potential and is due to open in Summer 2026. Key Responsibilities As Head of School, you’ll work closely with the Principal to shape the school’s ethos, culture, and strategic direction. You’ll be responsible for: Leading operational excellence and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff, and visitors. Driving pupil attendance, progress, and achievement. Building and supporting a skilled, motivated, and positive staff team. Ensuring compliance with Independent School Standards and internal quality expectations. Championing a culture of inclusion, enrichment, and high standards of behaviour. About You We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and visionary leader who: Has a proven track record in school leadership, ideally within specialist education. Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Can inspire, motivate, and lead a team with empathy, clarity, and purpose. Understands the unique needs of students with ASD and SEMH and strives for outstanding outcomes. Is confident in managing school improvement, curriculum development, and quality assurance.
