Senior Structural Designer

OSL Consulting Engineers are the consulting team of nexos, the only fully integrated and most digitally advanced Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) provider in the UK. We are seeking experienced Structural Designers to join our multidiscipline Engineering team on a contract basis. The role will report into to our Lead Structural Engineer and will work on a specific FEED Project with the option to extend into detailed design. Our ideal individuals will have previous experience of working at Senior Designer level on projects within the chemical and or pharmaceutical industries. Previous experience of FEED is essential. We operate a hybrid working week with three days per week spent in our project office based in Hessle, East Yorkshire. Responsibilities: The Senior Structural Designer will be responsible for the preparation and coordination of structural design deliverables during the FEED phase of the project. The role involves developing conceptual and detailed layouts, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, and collaborating closely with structural engineers, other disciplines, and the client to produce high-quality, cost-effective designs. Develop structural design drawings and 3D models f or steel and reinforced concrete structures associated with process units, pipe racks, equipment foundations, and buildings. Work closely with structural engineers to translate engineering calculations and design concepts into constructible design deliverables. Prepare and check GA drawings, sections, details, foundation plans, and connection details in accordance with project standards and client specifications. Support the development of design criteria, material take-offs (MTOs), and quantity estimates during the FEED phase. Ensure design consistency and integrity across all structural deliverables and integration with other disciplines (piping, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, etc.). Review vendor and subcontractor drawings for structural interface requirements and compliance. Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and hazard identification (HAZID) sessions as required. Assist in the development of work-hour estimates and schedules for structural design activities. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company QA/QC procedures , safety standards, and relevant codes (e.g., AISC, BS EN, ACI, Eurocodes).
