Job Description

Key Responsibilities - Oversee and manage the transport department, including scheduling 120 weekly deliveries and collections (feed, fuel, finished goods, and general cargo). - Manage both company-owned trucks and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective operations. - Supervise unloading operations and coordinate with planners to execute feed unloading schedules efficiently. - Monitor GPS tracking systems and work with suppliers to identify and resolve issues related to vehicle use, routing, and fuel management. - Recruit, train, motivate, and manage logistics personnel, including drivers and unloading teams, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance. - Implement and maintain vehicle and equipment audit checklists; coordinate with workshop management on repair and maintenance schedules. - Review fleet capacity and specifications to match transport demand, and liaise with suppliers to procure new assets and equipment when required. - Develop and implement logistics policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance, efficiency, and safety. - Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards. - Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute strategic logistics and transport plans. - Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager. Role Requirements Qualifications - Tertiary or trade certification in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field. - Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (willingness to learn local languages advantageous). - Ability to develop and deliver staff training programs and manuals. Experience - Minimum of 5 years experience in a logistics or transport management role. - Proven experience managing large teams and complex logistics operations. Skills & Competencies - Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams. - Hands-on, proactive, and results-driven approach. - Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills. - High attention to detail and analytical thinking. - Strong commercial acumen and understanding of transport cost control. - Computer literacy with experience in logistics management systems and reporting tools.
