Job Description Job Description Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor/Facilities Manager JOB SUMMARY This position will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and labor tasks campus-wide to ensure the proper upkeep of buildings, equipment, and facilities. This role requires hands-on work involving basic repairs, installation, cleaning, event setup and break-down and maintaining physical structures and systems for any College-owned and/or operated facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Applicants should have a reliable method of transportation. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry. Assists with installation, assembly, and setup of equipment, events and furnishings. Cleans and maintains common areas, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting. Handles basic repairs, such as fixing leaks, changing light bulbs, and repairing doors or windows. Assists with landscaping and grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, and clearing debris. Ensures the cleanliness and safety of work environments, reporting potential hazards. Carries out basic labor tasks as needed, such as painting, lifting and moving materials, tools, and equipment. Assists with the removal of waste, debris, and old equipment. Maintains tools and equipment in good working condition, notifying supervisors of damaged or missing items. Supports higher-level maintenance staff as needed on more complex projects. Responds promptly to emergency maintenance requests. Adheres to all safety regulations and guidelines while performing tasks. Assists in setting up and breaking down for events or other special requests. Performs other duties as assigned by management. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in general maintenance, construction, or a similar field preferred. Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of how to properly perform manual tasks. Skill in the use of various trade tools and equipment. Ability to understand and follow instructions; basic problem-solving skills. Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks. Ability to communicate effectively and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to safe work practices. Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires medium-to-heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing or raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis. May be required to use a ladder or scaffolding. May be required to occasionally work in small, hard to reach spaces. Work is performed both inside a facility and outdoors in all weather conditions. Some hazardous situations may exist based on work to be performed. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work environment may risk exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, vibration, fumes and/or noxious odors, moving machinery, electrical shock, heights, disease/pathogens, toxic/caustic chemicals.
