EMPLOYMENT TYPE : Permanent SECTOR : Maintenance BASIC SALARY : Market Related START DATE : A.S.A.P / Immediate REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a mechanical and welding environment, preferably within the agricultural sector. Recognized trade qualification (Red Seal or equivalent) as a Diesel Mechanic, Fitter and Turner, or Welder. Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding, with practical fabrication experience. Sound knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Valid South African drivers license (Code 10 or higher will be an advantage). Forklift or tractor operator certification will be an added advantage. DUTIES: Workshop Operations: Conduct daily workshop tasks, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality workmanship. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations. Manage and care for tools, consumables, and spare parts, ensuring availability for maintenance and repair work. Assist in planning and implementing preventative maintenance schedules for all farm equipment to reduce downtime. Mechanical Maintenance and Repairs: Service, maintain, and repair all farm machinery, including tractors, harvesters, sprayers, pumps, and trailers. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in agricultural equipment. Ensure that all equipment is maintained according to manufacturer guidelines and farm operational needs. Work closely with farm management to prioritize repairs during peak production periods. Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks required for the maintenance, modification, or construction of farm implements and structures. Fabricate or adapt components and parts to improve operational efficiency on the farm. Ensure all welding work meets structural integrity and safety standards. Recordkeeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, servicing, and repairs conducted on all farm equipment. Track material usage and prepare requisitions for replacement parts when necessary. Assist with periodic reports on workshop activities, equipment condition, and maintenance schedules. Health, Safety, and Compliance: Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and related farm safety policies. Follow safe working practices and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Identify and report potential hazards or risks and assist with corrective actions.
