Opportunity Our client is a large, ASX listed asset management and services company based in Melbourne's CBD. They have a great opportunity for a Functional & Technical GIS Analyst for a range of upcoming infrastructure projects.Initial contract 6 to 12 months, view to permanent conversionMust have Australian CitizenshipDaily rates negotiable Role As a Functional & Technical GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the enterprise geospatial data and application environment. This role requires a strong blend of functional expertise, translating complex business needs into precise technical requirements, and hands-on technical skill in deploying mapping, analysis, and data integration solutions. The Analyst will manage geospatial projects independently, ensure data integrity, and drive the adoption of GIS technology across the organization.Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Functional Analysis and Solution DesignRequirements Gathering: Lead discovery sessions with business stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Planning, Engineering) to understand spatial information needs and define precise technical and functional requirements for GIS solutionsSolution Blueprinting: Design and document the architecture for new geospatial applications, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and data governance policiesSystem Integration: Act as the primary technical point of contact for integrating GIS systems (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise) with core business platforms (e.g., ERP, Asset Management) using APIs and middlewareUser Training & Support: Develop training materials and conduct workshops for end-users, ensuring successful adoption and utilization of new GIS tools and maps Technical Development and Geospatial EngineeringApplication Development: Perform configuration and development of web mapping applications and dashboards using platforms like ArcGIS Experience Builder, ArcGIS Online, or custom JavaScript APIsData Modelling: Design, implement, and maintain the organization's enterprise geodatabases, including schema definition, relationship classes, and spatial indexingScripting & Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts (primarily using Python/ArcPy) for repetitive tasks, data cleansing, geoprocessing workflows, and routine reportingQuality Assurance (QA): Lead technical testing efforts, ensuring the functionality, performance, and accuracy of all new geospatial deployments meet required specifications Data Management and ReportingData Integrity: Oversee the data quality assurance process, performing advanced spatial validation and complex geoprocessing to maintain the accuracy and currency of critical spatial datasetsDatabase Management: Utilize SQL and spatial extensions (PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial) to manage, query, and optimize data stored in relational and spatial databasesSpatial Analysis: Conduct advanced spatial analysis (e.g., network analysis, site suitability, proximity analysis) and generate clear, professional map products and reports for executive decision-makingMetadata Governance: Ensure all geospatial data assets are documented with comprehensive and compliant metadata About You To succeed in this role you will need: Extensive hands-on experience working in an enterprise GIS environmentProven ability to translate abstract business challenges into tangible, functional technical specificationsExpertise with the ESRI ArcGIS Platform (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online), and Python/ArcPy scripting experience for geospatial analysis and task automationExperience with cloud-based GIS architecture (AWS or Azure).Other geospatial technology experience (such as QGIS, OpenLayers, Leaflet, Metromaps, Google Maps, or similar commercial/open-source mapping toolsTertiary qualifications and relevant certifications in GIS (e.g. Esri Technical Certification or GIS Professional - GISP)Exceptional communication skills, stakeholder engagement, and ability to analyse and solve technical and business problemsAble to work in the office in Melbourne CBD 3 days per weekAustralian Citizenship is mandatory, as you may require a security clearance in future for government projects Apply Submit your resume, or contact Jarrodd.edwards@talentinternational.com.
