About Us Wujal Wujal is an Aboriginal community in Far North Queensland's Cape York Peninsula, named for the "many falls" in its World Heritage-listed environment rich with rainforests, rivers, and sacred waterfalls. Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Council is responsible for ensuring that our community of around 400 residents and those from more remote surrounding areas have access to essential services. About the Position Council is currently seeking an Essential Services Coordinator to join our team. The primary objective of the Essential Services Coordinator is to be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the communities water supplies and sewerage services. This position also involves the coordination of the communities garbage collection and environmental health services. Responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Providing daily direction, coordination and supervision of Council’s essential services staff and Contractors and their activities. Monitor, operate and maintain the sewerage, water treatment plants, pumps, equipment and assets. Maintain the Water Supply system to provide drinking water to the community to Australian Standards. Supervise operation of the rubbish collection service and manage the waste transfer station. Deliver environmental health programs to the community. Preparation and submission of relevant reporting to meet legislative requirements. Providing timely advice to Management on all issues that may impact on the efficient and effective provision of Council’s essential services. This is a full-time permanent position, working 38 hours per week. This position is based in Wujal Wujal. Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will possess the following: Certificate III in Water Treatment Plant Operations and/or Certificate III in Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations. Current C Class Drivers Licence. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team to achieve work outcomes within set timeframes and to a high standard. Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of water and sewerage treatment plants and associated infrastructure. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, professionally and courteously with Council’s clients (including members of the public), other Council staff, community groups, representatives of various Government Departments, and other authorities. Demonstrated experience with Council and Departmental reporting, including against programs and grants.
