We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team. Purpose: This position is responsible for managing civic and civil infrastructure projects through the planning, design, approvals, documentation, procurement, and construction delivery stages of projects for the delivery of Council’s assets in road reserve, open spaces, and Council operated buildings. This role will be responsible to organise the appropriate consultation and communications processes that identifies community aspirations, internal operational needs and the services needs relating to Council infrastructure, while communicating affectively throughout the delivery of each project. About the role: To prepare accurate technical reports / correspondence and to provide sound technical advice to other Council officers, Councillors and to the general public. To liaise with consultants and contractors as required, including the preparation of briefs and consultation plans for consultants and to prepare timely and accurate project estimates. Ensure compliance with legislative, industrial and Council policy requirements Uphold all Work Health and Safety legislative requirements utilising best practice Risk management techniques. Manage projects through concept, design, documentation, tendering and construction stages for consultants, council officers, and contractors ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications. Prepare specifications, contracts, quotations, tender packages and evaluations in compliance with Council’s Purchasing Policy for external works and service agreements to ensure the delivery of a cost competitive service. Facilitate the relevant community consultation process to identify community and stakeholder aspirations and needs for current and future usage and maintenance in the delivery of the building projects. Prepare key information to assist the Council’s Communications department in the preparation of media releases and written articles for publication in newspapers or presentations or for inclusion in public information displays. Exercise in a diligent manner those powers delegated to the position by the Director City Services. The right candidate will have: Appropriate tertiary professional qualifications, at degree level, in a relevant field such as Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, Project Management or equivalent relevant industry experience in building, documentation and construction. Proven project management skills to meet budgets, timeframes, competing project priorities and milestones. Ability to control several projects simultaneously to ensure resources are managed appropriately. Well-developed written and oral communication techniques and an ability to deal effectively with other Council personnel and the public. Effective interpersonal, negotiating, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Experience in delivery of capital projects valued between $250k-$20M. High level computer literacy, particularly Microsoft office or similar packages.
