About the role The South Australian Department for Education is dedicated to engaging every child and student so that they achieve at the highest possible level of their learning and well-being, through quality care and teaching. The department continuously implements a range of business reforms and new initiatives to improve the educational opportunities for every South Australian child and to best meet the needs of the South Australian community. The Student Pathways and Careers Division provides a focus on supporting our secondary schools to provide a consistent approach to engage, retain and transition young people to employment, vocational learning and higher education. Reporting to the Director, Services and Programs, the Manager Disability Pathways is required to determine, lead and oversee statewide disability programs that support meaningful post-school transition for students with a disability across public schools that underpin the outcomes of the Student Pathways and Careers division and are critical to the Agency and Government. The position will exercise significant independence in strategically leading, managing and providing expert advice on the planning, development and implementation of timely and within budget programs, policies and processes that focus on increasing pathways for young people with a disability in schools to employment across the State and within the broader scope of education outcomes. The Manager Disability Pathways will adhere to the department's project management methodology and will lead and manage the development and maintenance of networks and relationships with key stakeholders to deliver outcomes that meet agency business needs. The incumbent will be required to manage and evaluate the performance of regions to ensure continuous improvement and improved outcomes for secondary school students and young people. The role will also provide high level reports and tactical advice for senior management and executives within the Department and across government. The environment can at times be politically sensitive in relation to further education, employment and governance. The position requires extremely high levels of confidentiality, and is subject to frequent periods of high workload and changing priorities. Qualifications Essential: Nil Desirable: Relevant post graduate qualifications. Special conditions The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
