Job Description
The key duties of the position include: The Role Seeking a highly motivated graphic designer to join the Publishing and Multimedia team to create, deliver and maintain communication products for the Defence Flight Safety Bureau (DFSB) within Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA). You will develop complex print and digital graphic design products to enhance the safety of military aviation within the Defence aviation community. You will be able to anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs to achieve Defence aviation safety outcomes. There may be opportunities to develop basic multimedia and copy-writing skills. Specific duties: Provide graphic design for online and print medium including aviation safety publications, reports, promotional material, posters, banners and website design. Collaborate and liaise with colleagues, key stakeholders and service providers (ie printers and distribution agencies) to deliver high-quality, accurate graphic design products. Participate in planning and concept development of media and communication products. Draft procedures in accordance with relevant policy and standards. Provide administrative support. About our Team DASA is responsible for enhancing and promoting the safety of military aviation through the implementation of a Defence Aviation Safety Program that promotes a generative safety culture and independently assures the effective management of Defence aviation safety risks. DASA is a complex organisation consisting of headquarters elements and directorates providing aviation safety assurance and specialist engineering services to the Defence aviation community. The organisation has a strength of around 300 personnel, made up of ADF and APS members and is physically located in Melbourne VIC, Canberra ACT, and Amberley QLD. DFSB is the directorate of DASA responsible for the provision of aviation safety promotion, research, education and independent accident investigation capabilities for the Defence aviation community. The Publishing and Multimedia team create, deliver and maintain communication products for DFSB. Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate expertise and experience: In the use of Adobe suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Working in a contemporary design studio or media and communication team. Working with limited supervision, prioritising competing demands and meeting tight deadlines to achieve expected outcomes. Communicating effectively (both verbally and in writing) with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify and deliver agreed outcomes. Using Microsoft Office. Eligibility Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Baseline Vetting” level.
