The key duties of the position include: The Role The Australian Army Battle Lab is seeking an APS 6 Lessons Analyst to join its Army Lessons team. This position requires extensive experience and knowledge in qualitative and quantitative research and analysis methods, and Army structure and culture. The Lessons Analyst is responsible for analysis of data to support the Army Lessons Process. The Lessons Analyst is responsible for assuring the lessons data integrity to enable analysis. Lessons analysis informs the improvement of Army’s contribution to ADF operations, training and modernisation. Within the Army Battle Lab, Lessons analysis contributes to effective experimentation, doctrine and procedural development and simulation scenarios. About our Team The Army Battle Lab team is an integrated work team comprising full and part time military members and APS employees at all levels. The three sections within the Battle Lab consist of Army Lessons (AL), Land Domain Publications (LDP), Land Simulation & Wargaming (LS&W) and the Training Adversary System Support Centre (TASSC) The Army Lessons team is an integrated work team comprising full and part time military members and APS employees at all levels. The Army Lessons team aims to: Allow personnel access to the tools to enable the identification, processing, and dissemination of lessons to others in the organisation. Provide personnel posted to lessons positions within Army with an understanding of the Army Lessons Process and the tasks and sub-processes they will undertake within it. Provide personnel who are attached to, or supporting deliberate Army Lessons activities within the Army Lessons Process with the necessary baseline information to effectively contribute to those lessons activities. The Army Lessons team coordinates activities relevant to the Army lessons process and routinely supports the application of the Army Lessons Process fulfilling all steps of the process simultaneously as a continual cycle. Our Ideal Candidate This role will ideally suit a highly motivated and experienced individual with a background in business analysis. The ideal candidate will also have experience in using spreadsheets and data analysis software, and have an understanding of contemporary qualitative and quantitative research techniques, with a bias towards qualitative skills. To be the successful candidate for this position you will need to: Work with the Army Lessons team engaging in the conduct of planning, collection, analysis, implementation and validation as part of the Army Lessons Process. Plan and project manage the analysis of information as part of the Army Lessons Process. Conduct analysis as part of the Army Lessons Process. Manage the Lessons Request for Information (RFI) service. Support communication of Army’s lessons. Demonstrate working knowledge of business information systems. Demonstrate analytical skills, and an ability to think strategically when solving problems. The ability to interact positively with Defence and external stakeholders.
