Building Compliance Auditor and Passive Fire Specialist

Who we are Stokes Safety provides fire safety and building compliance audits, certification, and consultancy to a wide range of clients across commercial, warehousing, healthcare, and tertiary sectors. Operating from our Sunbury-based head office, we deliver Essential Safety Measures (ESM) and passive fire inspections across Australia. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Building Compliance Auditor & Passive Fire Specialist to join our growing Building Compliance team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of inspection, compliance, and remediation activities, lead client engagements, and help maintain our high standards of technical quality and safety across diverse built environments. The Role This is a full-time position within our Building Compliance and Passive Fire division. You will be responsible for conducting detailed building compliance and passive fire inspections, identifying non-conformances, managing remediation works, and ensuring adherence to relevant standards and manufacturers’ specifications. This role will also involve supporting high-level client meetings, preparing detailed reports and registers, and providing strategic compliance advice to help our clients meet their legal and operational obligations. Key responsibilities include: Identify non-conformances, record defects, and verify compliance with relevant standards and manufacturers’ specifications. Manage clients, defects, repairs, and compliance strategies to ensure high-quality outcomes. Represent the Passive Fire Inspections team in client discussions, project briefings, and issue-resolution meetings. Complete and review penetration registers and comprehensive reports for ESM and Passive Fire. Apply technical knowledge of passive fire products, including test report criteria and approved methodologies. Interpret and implement baseline data requirements and ensure accuracy in reporting and documentation. Maintain a high standard of professional conduct, accuracy, and field readiness. Travel interstate when required and support internal audits or calibration reviews. Maintain timely and accurate digital records of all activities and communications. Attend internal team meetings and contribute leadership insights to operational planning. Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and workplace safety standards in all dealings. What you’ll need to be successful Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying, Fire Safety Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Proven experience in building compliance auditing, inspections, and risk assessments, ideally focused on fire safety and essential safety measures. Strong technical knowledge of AS1530.4, AS4072.1, AS1851, and NCC 2022. Ability to develop and implement remediation or compliance improvement plans. Excellent attention to detail, time management, and documentation accuracy. High-level written and verbal communication skills. A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused mindset. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with contractors, facility managers, and regulatory authorities. A commitment to safety, integrity, and delivering quality outcomes. Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to client sites as needed. Why work for us?
