Lead Cost Controller

Hutcheon Mearns has been engaged to source a Lead Cost Controller for a highly successful, international business with a very significant UK presence. The Opportunity As Lead Cost Controller, you will be a part of the Finance & Project Services Department. Your main responsibilities will be to provide a proactive and robust cost management service and take ownership of project P&L reporting. This is a key role which will drive improvement across the cost/project control function. Line management of cost control team Internal project P&L reporting and forecast including preparation and posting of project accruals and variance analysis Preparation and review of client cost reports Ownership of aged debt and optimisation of cashflow Input to preparation of variation order requests as required by project team Creation of project budget as handed over from tendering Highlight in timely manner any areas of concern for potential cost overrun Management of risk and opportunity reporting Review of final project performance v as sold and feedback variances to tendering to promote improvement Support client and external audits as required Input to monthly project reviews with Senior Management Background and Experience Project cost control knowledge and experience Project accounting knowledge and experience Previous line management experience is beneficial Advanced Excel skills Experience of using ERP systems Degree qualified in Finance or Business Studies is preferable ACCA I CIMA qualified/ part qualified is beneficial Experience of broader project controls remit is an advantage Demonstrates commitment to Values, Visions and Behaviours Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail Strong communication skills both oral and written Ability to manage a team and be team player Commitment to continuous improvement Commercially aware and understanding of contracts to maximise profit and minimise risk Able to deliver high quality outcomes in a dynamic environment What’s On Offer Competitive terms Fun and team-oriented work environment Opportunities to develop in a safe environment Exciting, challenging and rewarding work environment Flexible, hybrid working Next Steps To apply, please send a detailed CV.
