Job Description

Are you an experienced Civils Design Manager looking for a pivotal role in a major infrastructure project in London? NES Fircroft has been exclusively retained by a world leader in transport infrastructure to seek a talented professional to ensure the successful, compliant, and innovative delivery of design packages. As the Design Manager, reporting to the Senior Design Manager, you will be crucial in managing the design process from end-to-end across airfield works, civils, and MEP packages. You will ensure designs are delivered on time and on budget, while managing contractual aspects, risks, and changes. As the Civils Design Manager, some of your key responsibilities will be: Co-ordinate design team activities to ensure the project design is completed within the agreed budget and construction programme. This includes monitoring progress, managing slippages, and tracking design progress monthly. Manage the tendering of design packages by understanding client scope and negotiating offers. You will also work closely with the procurement team to ensure compliance with financial parameters and assist in defining subcontract scopes. Be responsible for ensuring the design complies fully with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements. This includes setting up tools to evidence how Health by Design and Design for Safety/Sustainability have been embedded. Actively define and manage design interfaces, lead the review of the design with all interested parties, and liaise with client representatives and the internal Spanish Engineering Services team. Promote, explore, and materialize value engineering opportunities. You will also assist the Senior Design Manager in team management, performance advice, and development, while preparing monthly KPI submissions. To excel in this Design Manager role on a complex infrastructure framework, you will need a combination of technical, commercial, and leadership skills. We are looking for candidates with: Proven experience in design coordination roles, ideally with experience in airfield design (management) and working in the construction industry. A strong working knowledge of BIM and Health and Safety Legislation, with a proactive approach to incorporate new technologies on-site (innovation). Experience in reviewing and implementing processes, workflows, and procedures, particularly for setting up a CDE platform (Common Data Environment) in major projects. Experience working in a cost-conscious environment, strong people management skills, and the ability to manage priorities and maximize efficiency with minimal guidance. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at a variety of levels with all stakeholders. If you are a driven and experienced Civils Design Manager ready to apply innovation and technical leadership to a major UK infrastructure project, we encourage you to apply.
