Job Description
Director, Alliance Outsourcing Management Location: Barcelona, Spain (3 days/week working from the office). The role of the Outsourcing Management Director is to act as the lead for one or more supplier(s) within outsourcing model(s)/service line(s) for portfolio deliverables within CTCO. They will be responsible for ensuring the supplier(s) within the model(s) are meeting the operational needs of the customers; ensuring sourcing strategy across CTCO and managing adherence to, ensuring outsourcing effectiveness, appropriate communications, ensuring selected partners deliver to contract; and that strong relationships with the external suppliers are created and maintained. CTCO Director, Outsourcing Management will report to the Study Management Head within Cell Therapy Clinical Operations. The Director is responsible for supporting and monitoring all aspects of vendors’ performance and oversight at a global, hub and/or country level. They oversee sourcing strategy within CTCO, including execution of the sourcing model, Work Orders (WOs), 3PRM process, and partner with key vendors globally. They work with global/hub and country CTCO leadership, support and develop processes and systems to optimize business partnering, and support Country Footprint strategy by partnering with CROs to develop and execute the operating model in respective CTCO markets. Key Responsibilities Supplier / Model Governance Accountable for outsourcing management of one or more supplier(s) within or across model(s)/service line(s). Proactively identifies and manages risks at the supplier/model/service line level. Acts as point of contact for issue escalation to Alliance Management and helps identify solutions with business stakeholders. Facilitates resolution of operational issues that impact delivery. Supports implementation of outsourcing strategies that deliver top‑tier industry metrics. Leads operational governance of the supplier(s)/model(s)/service line(s). Supports large cross‑country project deliverables, as required. Supplier / Model Quality and Performance Monitors quality and performance of service deliverables in alignment with the MSA and outsourcing model. Ensures selected suppliers deliver to contract and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal customers. Ensures effective visibility of supplier performance to stakeholders. Integrates lessons learned for suppliers/models/service lines. Seeks opportunities to drive efficiencies and continuous improvement. Study Team Support Ensures understanding of roles and responsibilities across delivery teams for assigned models/service lines. Works with AM Process Integration Lead, internal SMEs and supplier counterparts to maintain interface processes and ways of working. Stakeholder Engagement Fosters collaborative culture and builds trust with internal and external stakeholders. Represents CTCO Study Management in cross‑functional groups and leads process improvement projects globally. Role models partnering behaviours and expected ways of working. Portfolio / Capacity Management Monitors capacity within the supplier and model/service line to support the portfolio. Partners across CTCO Leadership to create and adhere to budgets. Supports CTCO algorithms and systems to reliably estimate demand for functions. Qualifications University degree in a related discipline, or equivalent. Strong experience in the pharmaceutical industry or clinical research organisation. Detailed knowledge of clinical and pharmaceutical drug development across phases. Experience managing relationships with external partners. Experience directing alliance governance frameworks and processes (incl. performance metrics). Ability to network and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior stakeholders. Strong leadership and influencing skills. Strong collaboration skills across global and functional boundaries. Strategic mindset and innovative thinker with affinity toward experimentation and appropriate risk‑taking. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Excellent conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation skills. Strong project management skills. Familiar with ICH GCP and related guidelines and practices. Desirable Experience with partner selection and qualification. Proven ability to deal with complex situations holistically. Technical understanding of service deliverables and subject matter expertise (e.g., study management, data management, analysis and reporting). Knowledge of existing AstraZeneca external suppliers and models. Knowledge of AstraZeneca policies, procedures and guidelines.
